Green in more ways than one

Hi everyone, and please stay back at least 6 feet, for your own sake. This has been a miserable week for me. I was feeling crummy last week, but I managed to get a lot of work done and even some sewing. And laundry! This week, not so much. I had a flu shot in October, but I apparently still got a flu strain, because it has been a lay-on-the-sofa-and-cry-until-the-meds-kick-in kind of week. Not even joking. I cancelled my classes, but didn't have the energy to give my students alternative assignments. I couldn't even do Zoom meetings. It was no fun. Zero stars, do not recommend.

Which is all my way of saying that I made very little progress this week, on anything. I do have a couple of things to show that I finished before someone hit me with a hammer, though. Here are some 6-inch green blocks:

Okay, they're cute. You can see that it was raining and that made the colors look amazing when I took a picture. They say that we're behind on rain for the year, but you sure couldn't prove it by me.

I also made the green Peace and Plenty blocks:

I was thrilled to get three of them out of the scrap bin, because there were just not a lot of large enough green pieces in the bin. You can't tell unless you look really closely, but I had to piece together some of the parts for the block on the right. I really wanted to use that fabric!

Okay, just one more thing:

These are little 3-1/2 inch blocks that I made from some "bonus hsts" that I got from the cutoffs from another project. I'm not sure I remember that project because they've been in the bin for so long. Unbelievably, there are more than 60 hsts, which will make 15 little blocks. This will become another doll quilt. Lest you think I already have too many of those, take a look:

Some of the stuffies have to share blankets at naptime! This clearly will not do. (Just ask my granddaughter, who put her dolls and stuffies down for a nap.)

Okay, time for me to go back to the sofa. I'm doing better, with much less crying and shivering, but why take chances? Hope you all are having a much better weekend. Enjoy this last bit of green:

Also, Blogger tells me this is my 700th post. I'm having Tylenol to celebrate, how about you?

Sharing at soscrappy for RSC23.

Hi Mari,. I am getting over covid and was bedridden for 10 days so I understand how you are feeling. Nice blocks though. Love the little blocks for the doll quilt.

hope you feel better soon. For me it will be allergies that will be hitting me bad - I wish there was a vaccine for that! The thick heavy green pollen will be coming soon and I will have a Kleenex at my nose for days on end

I think I prefer to celebrate your 700th post by sewing with friends. Yup, a sew day for me. Hope you're feeling better real soon. You know you're sick when even quilting can't distract you from how lousy you feel. Pretty blocks made though before you got socked with double-time flu cooties.

Oh, Mari, I'm sorry that you flu shot made you so sick!! It often makes me sick for a day or two, but nothing such as you experienced. Congrats on your 700th post and those pretty GREEN blocks for the RSC!

So sorry to hear you are under the weather. But congratulations on your 700th post. Your green blocks are all terrific. My granddaughters are both getting beyond that doll quilt stage as they are 11 and 10. But I do like making doll quilts, so I plan to purchase a couple of new "stuffies" and donate a doll quilt wrapped it's own blankie.

I'm sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling well this week, Mari! Hope you feel better each day. In spite of all that, you have some pretty green blocks! I love your doll quilts, too. Perfect for your granddaughter's little friends!

Sorry about the flu. I had it bad (turned into pneumonia) back in 2019 (no it was NOT Covid). Hopefully you are starting to mend. I didn't even get out of bed (sofa was too far away).

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear you are ill. Never good, but it sounds like you are doing what you should and resting to get better. Your green blocks are beautiful. I too, have pieced some fabrics together to be able to make a block I wanted when it was a tight fit. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I'm impressed you put your blog post together this week. Hope you feel better soon. These things do pass, but never soon enough.

Personal if my remaining fabric after a quilt project is large enough to complete a block, it doesn't get sent to the scrap bags. So, many of my RSC blocks have pieced pieces. I say that adds to their charm and follows sustainable guidelines.

Oh boy, I'm sorry you were so sick. That justs "sucks"! Glad you are doing some better and taking it easy. I'm glad you could sew some. Your greens made lovely blocks. I think piecing is allowable. At least it is in my sewing space!

Oh no Mari, I am so sorry you got the flu. Hope you feel better soon. Despite of that glad to know you had some fun with your green scraps, you made beautiful blocks.

So sorry you have been/are sick - but your post title is just too funny (from here that is). Hooray for 700 posts - hope you are in for at least 700 more! Rest and take care of yourself . . .

Sorry you have had a lousy week. Your green blocks are fab, but how fabulous is the 700th post! Congratulations.

That is the cutest doll sanatorium you got there. Wishing you a speedy recovery. But do take a day or two extra. I am sure the students won't miss you too much. Big Hugs.

I am so sorry you are not feeling well. There is a nasty virus going around here, and friends who have gotten it are miserable. So I hope you continue to rest, recuperate and get better soon!

Oh dear, what a terrible time you are having, not a fun way at all to celebrate your 700th post. Your granddaughter is right, of course each of those cuddly babies needs their own quilt, come on Grandma! When you are feeling better, of course.

Hope you're feeling better this week! Is your school on spring break now? Your projects are coming along so nicely...the Peace and Plenty block is particularly appealing (=beguiling). I've got dozens, no, hundreds, of bonus HSTs. I've learned to trim and press them as I generate them. Less overwhelming that way.
