I just have a few tiny blocks to show today. I thought I would finish something small, but I didn't finish binding it yet. Oh, well! Here are my tiny blocks for the week:
These are the last of the purples, and I love them all. I think they turned out great, but you can see that the lantern block is just a tiny bit too long. The seams appear to be off by about 1/32nd of an inch each, which doesn't show in bigger blocks but certainly shows here. Not sure what I'll do about it, since I don't want to rip it all out and they're off by about the width of the thread. I'll probably trim it and then make it fit. It's still very cute, though! The other two tiny purples are my own and weren't offered by Angela. I think they're cute, too!
Since we're nearing the end, I thought I should pull out all the tiny blocks and take inventory, so I pulled out a small design board (foam core board covered in a batting scrap) and took them all outside. Here are the reds and yellows:
And last but not least, the greens to purples:
That's 44 blocks, with the Bow tie repeated twice. Not sure how that happened. I think I need more pinks and more yellows, and maybe one or two more reds. I started out thinking that 56 blocks would make a lovely little quilt, and I think I'll still aim for that.
As for a layout, I was thinking about making them shadow blocks, or else there is the striped quilt layout from Tula Pink's Modern Blocks that I like a lot. I'm not sure! How do you plan to set your blocks?
There's where we are-- lots of color in little bitty blocks, with the end in sight. Not sure what I'll do for the "dark" month next month, but I'm pretty sure it won't be brown. Maybe multicolors? Decisions, decisions!
Have a great weekend! Linking up with Angela for RSC19.

Your purple blocks make a lovely addition to the collection. I like the idea of multicolor for the dark month. I can picture it going quite well with the rest.
Your blocks are all so cute! I like that we have October to do some catch-up colors, darks (I plan to make a quilt out of my bulging drawer-ful of gray, black and brown scraps) and even multis for string quilts. Oh the possibilities! Have you decided on a straight set, then, for your TT blocks? Here’s an idea for the lantern block fix (it’s what I would do, but I’m only suggesting it for consideration). Since the dark colors are more prominent and the lighter colors tend to visually “spread”, I’d take a hair-width’s seam between the light strips, narrowing them down somewhat. If it were even noticeable, it would appear intentional because of the symmetry. And then the very end pieces could also lose a sixteenth and still be in proportion.
Great set of blocks. It will be fun to see what is added in October.
I need to go count mine. I’m pretty sure I don’t have 44. I know I did not do a kitty in a basket block.wonder how many I really do have! Hmmmm? Yours are great!! I like both your setting ideas too!
What fun to see all of your TT blocks, Mari! I'm shooting for 56 total blocks, too, so I think I'll have to make some additional ones after October. I've enjoyed seeing the extras you've made - how do you figure the math to make them turn out at 5 inches?
I like Cathy's suggestion for your Chinese Lantern block. I love that striped layout, very original by Tula Pink. The shadow layout is cool too but I really like the striped look. Your blocks look great!
So much Quilty goodness pictured here, and a great example of 'stick-to-it-iveness'! I like the idea of using Tula's striped layout idea. I’ve always been drawn to it.
How fun to see your parade of little blocks! They are so bright and cheerful. Those purples just glow.
I like your idea of doing multi-color for October RSC. Or maybe I'll do some of both, throwing in a few black, brown and gray blocks in my other RSC projects. I'm missing a lot of TT blocks from early in the year when we were away for 8 weeks. So I have to catch those up too, before I worry about setting. I haven't sashed my blocks yet.
Pat
Your TT blocks look wonderful together! A few more pinks and yellows sounds like a great idea. (And I'm stifling an urge to shout 'more orange' because I always say 'more orange'...)
Lots of fun and bright TT blocks. Those will make a very colorful quilt. Looking forward to seeing what setting you decide on.
