Steamy stars

Hi everyone! I would ask how you all are doing, but I'm pretty sure everyone is hot right now. Good golly, this is crazy! It's supposed to be 100 degrees (37.8 C) here on Sunday. Pretty sure I'll be staying inside, as long as the air conditioning holds out. Even the birds are not flying right now, and I haven't seen the deer all week.

It has not been a great week for me, with lots of medical appointments. You know how much time and frustration those can take! But I did manage to sew a bit and I finished off the purple twinkle stars for the rainbow scrap challenge. I started on some purple birds, but lost some momentum somewhere. Probably in a waiting room. Anyway, here are the stars:

I don't know why, but I just love these things. They look kind of lacy and delicate. I don't have a lot of purple scraps, but I did have a nice selection of different values of purple. Anyone else ever have an art teacher who terrorized them about mixing certain colors together? Pretty sure that purple and yellow together were a no-go. I've always been kind of a rule-breaker, you know.

Believe it or not, there really are purple stars in the sky, but apparently we can't really see them as purple, because they also emit blue light, which is easier for us to see. The more you know! If we could see them, though, I like to think they'd look like the one above. I just love that fabric and am glad one of the last bits of it is going into this quilt.

And there is the sum total of my progress for this week. Next week will be better, though still hot, I'm sure. I'm not pining for fall yet, though, and winter can stay away, too, so I'm sure I'll get through another hot week. And hey--it means more ice cream and less yard work for me!

Everyone have a lovely weekend. Feet up and cool drinks all around, with lots of ice, too!

Love your purple twinkle stars Mari.
Be safe from the extreme hot days. Poor birds and deers, all nature suffer with so high temperatures.

Very sparkly stars, Mari!!! Great accomplishment despite your appointments. Yes, we're mainly staying indoors here, too.

Purple and yellow were my high school colors. I always love seeing them together. Staying out of the heat sounds like a great plan until things cool down. Your blocks are looking great so far, hope your mojo comes back so you can finish the rest!

Yes, it's hot out west here, too, Mari! We're all having a very summery summer, lol! Your purple and yellow blocks are really pretty. They're going to make a beautiful quilt!

I think purple and gold (or yellow) looks like a royal combination! Using that yellow in every block was genius! Twinkle Stars have become one of my favorites too, and my own stack just keeps growing.

Have a great week! We're expecting cooler temps after this weekend and that should be wonderful.

Purple and yellow are a great combination! That particular purple fabric is spectacular! Even the designer used yellow with the purple! Twinkle Stars is a fab block!

I love your twinkle stars every time I see them! And yes, it's hot everywhere. We flew this week from 90 deg Portland, OR to 90 degree Detroit, MI. And we are due for nasty thunderstorms tonight too. It's summer all over the place!

Very pretty stars indeed.
I've been spending time in waiting rooms too. Hopefully we get good results.

Multiple medical appointment in a single week? No fun, Mari! Glad you managed to attend some PURPLE scrap sewing.

Purple and yellow are complimentary colors on the color wheel, so they work together. I was always told purple and green were a bad combo, but it's one of my favorites. Your stars definitely twinkle and are so pretty! Will be fun to see all of them together in a quilt! I hope you have a better week this week!

I love the stars. The heat has been miserable everywhere. We are going to get to mid-90's next week which won't be so great without an AC unit. Sigh.
Hang in there Mari - hope the medics are figuring things out for you.

The stars surely do twinkle! Love them! My son lives in southern MD and I was just looking at his expected 97 degree high for today (Sunday). Awful! The Midwest has been suffering too but so grateful for A/C!

They do look beautiful and delicate. I remember the trip to Lancaster when we bought the purple paisley fabric together. Time for another road trip? I don't care if we even buy fabric.

Love your blocks! I bet they were a lot of fun to make. I totally understand the “doctor social visits”. I wish I could have a “Casino” visit! But the world is not safe now along with the lovely Inflation…… But cannot do anything about it until November! Red is my favorite color!

We have been in the 100 to 116 since May - no let up! I am praying for a cold Fall, even snow again for the Winter - In fact If it was 50 every day and 30 every night for 6 months I would be a happy camper. We are still at 95 at 9 PM in the evenings and the morning temps have never been below 78! UGH!

When I lived in Sterling VA August was the only bad month, but I see where you are having the lovely heat wave! We are also in a horrible drought! South Texas! Have a great A/C day! Hugs

Really liked your Crossed Canoes and Hunters Star block too. These stars are also pretty. I like their size and the yellows too.
A little cooler here today with a breeze; it felt wonderful. Anyway, Happy Stitching!
